An exciting opportunity has arisen for qualified Firearms Instructors.
Warwickshire Police are in the unique position of creating our own Firearms Training Unit. The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for shaping and developing this new unit, to deliver firearms training to AFOs within Warwickshire that is fit for 21st Century policing.
The main purpose of the role is to plan, prepare and deliver firearms training and provide firearms tactical advice to commanders.
Main Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare and deliver relevant firearms training to all Armed Response Vehicle Officers and Specialist Firearms Training (where applicable).
Plan, prepare and deliver relevant firearms training to personnel from other forces and appropriate organisations on National Training Courses.
Plan, prepare and deliver relevant firearms awareness training as appropriate to Police Officers and Staff.
Provide a response to firearms incidents by providing additional ARV or Tactical Firearms cover/resilience as dictated by demand.
Provide firearms tactical advice for spontaneous and pre-planned firearms incidents.
To support the learning of others using the most effective and appropriate techniques.
To validate and update training material as appropriate.
To prepare reports, and assessments on delegates students as required
To maintain knowledge / accreditation and skills with regard to national, regional and local developments in computer & communication systems.
To identify and apply appropriate evaluation processes, incorporating feedback into training design.
To identify and manage risks in the training environment through approved assessment processes.
To be available to utilise specialist knowledge and skills to support other areas of the organisation.
Knowledge/Experience:
Provide evidence of a broad experience of roles performed in a variety of armed deployments
Demonstrate knowledge of current firearms policy and Cop & APP guidance around the police use of firearms
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of NPFTC
Key Skills:
Hold a current National Firearms Instructor accreditation.
Have been employed as a Firearms Instructor within the last 3yrs.
Hold a current firearms authorisation, to minimum ARV role profile.
Possess PTTLS level 3 or equivalent Teaching Qualification.
Ideally be A1 assessor or equivalent.
Advanced driver.
Proven experience of delivering briefings / presentations to groups
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Achieve national fitness standard for ARV role profile. ( ARV 9.4 )
Special Conditions:
Casual car user.
Potential for unsocial hours when covering TacAd/ARV/Tactical Team .
Standby / On Call rota.
Medical exam / hearing test / sight test.
