The main purpose of the role is to investigate allegations of serious and complex fraud and kindred offences.

 

Main Responsibilities:

To deal promptly and efficiently with all functions involved in the investigation of serious and complex fraud. This will include investigations into Electoral Fraud and may require the post-holder to complete training (provided by the City of London Police) to act as the Electoral Fraud SPOC for Warwickshire Police.

Responsible for the prompt completion and submission of complex files of evidence (relating to serious and complex fraud) to CPS ensuring accuracy, legibility, quality and integrity of evidence.

To work in accordance with the Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) which exist with external organisations, including the Law Society, the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, Action Fraud/National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) and the Serious Fraud Office (SFO).

To foster liaison with other police forces, the Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU), partner agencies, local policing areas and other specialist departments; to promote awareness of the ECU, to encourage intelligence sharing and good working relationships.

To provide support and direction to officers from other policing areas in relation to fraud investigation.

To support the ECU in relation to vulnerable victims of fraud, identified as a result of SARs intelligence and to support the development of financial intelligence for the ECU, when required.

To provide assistance with the completion of international enquiries, for example, Internal Letters of Request (ILoRs) and European Investigative Orders (EIOs).

To undertake all functions associated with the role of a Detective Constable, including; searching, seizures, arrests, witness and suspect interviews, presenting evidence at court, attending case conferences with CPS and other duties commensurate with the role.
